Yoshihisa Tsuda 1

Tsuda in 2022

Yoshihisa Tsuda (津田 祥寿 Tsuda Yoshihisa) is a Japanese game developer who has served as the creator, director and author for the main Azure Striker Gunvolt series of games since its debut in 2014. He is the executive vice president and a founding member of series developer Inti Creates. He also co-hosts the "Loose Talking, the Targets are AiTsu!'" (ゆるゆるトーク ターゲットは あい津だ!) livestreams with company president/CEO Takuya Aizu.

It took six years for Gunvolt 3 to come after Gunvolt 2, but by six years after its 2022 release Tsuda will be reaching retirement age. Whether or not he will direct any more main series games is uncertain, with him either yielding the path to younger employees or saying "I can do it in less time" both being possibilities.[1]

During his time at Capcom he was one of Mega Man 7's planners and the co-designer of Mega Man X2.

A huge Mega Man fan, Tsuda was the driving force behind Inti Creates creating the Mega Man Zero series. Whenever there was a game convention, he would hound Keiji Inafune about the possibility of making a Mega Man game and conveyed the company's desire to in any way he could. One day Inafune called them to ask if they were ever planning on actually sending a proposal, and the company got to work. This eventually shaped into Mega Man Zero at Inafune's request, and Tsuda was the one who originally asked "What if we made X the last boss?", which ended up being the plan until the last month of development when it was switched to Copy X instead.[2]

Trivia

CF0
  • The intro stage boss of Mega Man X2, Gigantic Mechaniloid CF-0, was lovingly called "Tsuda Robot" by staff because "it was a physical replica of Tsuda", and thus that became its unofficial nickname.[3]
  • Supposedly, he was also the motif of Auto, who debuted in Mega Man 7.[4] [better citation needed]
