"I can't do anything now... It's all up to you..."
—???, Luminous Avenger iX 2
The Creator, or Master to the Mother Computer, ??? in dialogue boxes, Ypsilon in VS Missions, and AnotherA (Acura) in internal files, is an alternate version of Copen who hails from the world of the Grave Pillar. He replaces Ypsilon in Hard Mode, being a ghost who wants to save Mother, his version of Lola, from her suffering.
Appearance[]
In combat, he appears nearly identical to Ypsilon, but trades his black armor with red accents for a white armor with blue accents, with his shield in much better condition, being able to shine with a full "X" instead of "Y". When unmasked, he appears nearly identical to Copen save for his white hair having red accents and a scar on the left side of his face.
History[]
Background[]
In the world of the Grave Pillar, for unknown reasons, the world faces devastation. To find a way to counter this, The Creator would entrust the Mother Computer and Grave Pillar with the mission of reviving the human race and protecting the environment, while he would travel dimensions to find an inhabitable world for his version of humanity to live in. However, he presumably perished in his journey, leaving only the gun that would become Copen's new Razor Wheel, while Mother would go mad from failure, loneliness, and anger at her own Workers.
Despite being a ghost, he is responsible for causing the Blaster Rifle to open the wormhole that brought Copen, Lola, and Kohaku from their world to his, and is the one who initiates Hard Mode by sending Copen back to the start of the Grave Pillar, which forces him to climb it once again, all while begging to save "her".
Hard Mode[]
When first encountered at the Pillar Outskirts, he suddenly attacks Copen and Lola before being defeated and vanishing. When encountered and defeated again at the Passage to the Upper Stratum, Lola notes something being wrong with "Ypsilon", and claiming that it may be a "ghost". When encountered and defeated once more at the Top Floor, the Creator, unmasked and fading, states that "she can no longer hear [him]", and entrusts saving Mother to Copen before using the last of his powers to resurrect Null from her sacrifice, and then turns into a ball of light that flies upward. He is last seen departing with Mother to the afterlife in the Hard Mode ending, the two together and at peace.
Boss Battle Skills[]
- Unlike Ypsilon, the Creator will not be knocked back or staggered out of his attacks by the Recoil Dash, and he will use all normal skills in the second fight. All of his attacks are also faster.
Skill | Description |
---|---|
(シールドストライク) |
Shield tackle with knockback. Often followed up with Prominent Uppercut if Copen is nearby. |
(シールドバッシュ) |
He swings his shield, creating a large slash and sending 8 azure energy balls flies outward. In 2nd and 3rd fights this skill cancels Cryo-Flash, and he will use it if not in the middle of another attack. |
(ローリングステップ) |
Movement technique that grants invincibility and cancels tags, even in his first fight. |
(プロミネンスアッパー) |
A move copied from Dacite. He launches into a rising uppercut with his shield clad in flame. |
(オラージュリーゼ) |
A move copied from Vespa. He fires 5 wind projectiles at Copen. Unlike Ypsilon, the order of the projectiles moving towards Copen are random. |
(エイミングレイ) |
Copied from Autochrome. Sends out four targeting sights one after another. If any connects, Copen receives the attack at full power. |
(ジャッジメントブレード) |
Copied from Brigade's tank Heavy Basalt. He emits an enormous sword beam from his shield which must be dashed under. |
Copied from Ace. A group of boomerangs are launched into the air and fall down from the ceiling, leaving safe zones in between. | |
An SP Skill used in his second fight. The Creator teleports to both sides of the room, spraying a massive conical beam of electricity at Copen before teleporting to the middle and spreads electric orbs that transform into lightning bolts that rise from the ground and into the air leaving only small safe zones. | |
(セラフィックデス, Seraphic Death) |
An SP Skill used in his final fight. He calls upon the souls of the six Gravekeepers to attack Copen before unleashing a massive blast of light. The orbs that he summon must be destroyed before they become wings to lessen the first attack by using the Gravekeepers' Hard Mode weaknesses. |

The track notes for Xtreme Beyond only mention Ypsilon, so this track being composed with The Creator in mind is dubious.[2]

Trivia[]
- As Ypsilon is comparable to Copy X from Mega Man Zero, the Creator is comparable to the Cyber Elf X (aka the real "X").
- As most LAiX2 characters correspond to or are based on ones from Mighty No. 9, The Creator can use the abilities of all Workers, so most likely corresponds to Mighty No. 9, Beck.
- Compared with Ypsilon, The Creator has one more electric move: Stellar Spark, which also corresponds to Mighty No. 3, Dynatron. However, Ypsilon's sprite sheet contains unused graphics for a blue version of Stellar Spark.
- If the Shield Break is regarded as a move corresponding to Mighty No. 4, Seismic, then the Creator has the abilities of all Mighty Numbers.
- Early concept art for the common robot soldier bears a color scheme very similar to The Creator's, as well as an X mark shield similar to his. Considering the Copy X and Cyber Elf X comparisons, this makes the early robot soldier similar to the Pantheons--mass produced robot soldiers resembling X.
- He is the first boss to be a ghostly figure.
- It's unknown why the Creator decided to fight Copen in the game, despite telling him to save Mother and giving him the Blaster Rifle. It is possible that he wished to assess Copen's progress to determine if he was up to the task of defeating Mother.
- The Creator is the third boss without a cooldown phase voice-line. The first is Elise, and the second is Asroc. He is also the first humanoid boss with the fewest voice clips, being silent for many of his attacks.
- The Creator's Stellar Spark bears some resemblance to Blade's Thunderandal, using lightning to attack a wedge-shaped area of the screen and vertical strips of the screen in sequence.
- The Creator also has a scar on his left cheek, just like Blade.
- In the Passage to Upper Stratum, Stellar Spark causes the lights in the background to malfunction just like Gunvolt's lightning and Copen's old Stellar Spark. This also occurs in the "VS Ypsilon" mission since version 1.4.0.
- In early versions of the game, Seraphic Ruin was bugged and did not cause any damage.
- It is not clear whether The Creator's red hair accents are natural or come from a battle like his scar (e.g. the tips getting lightly burned from an attack). However, his more disheveled hair compared to Copen could point towards the latter.
- The Creator's purple Stellar Spark, especially in contrast with Ypsilon's unused blue version, is similar to the purple lightning attacks used by Demerzel EX in the first Luminous Avenger iX in contrast with the blue ones used by his normal version.
- Jason Frudnick identifies Copen's Razor Wheel as the broken blaster rifle of Roddy, the deceased and yet to be revealed character in Blaster Master Zero 2. Given that Copen found this item in his BMZ2 DLC, and that Copen believes The Creator sent him the rifle, this has led to speculation that The Creator must have been connected to Roddy somehow, or might even have been his true identity... It's all very complicated. To begin with, Copen has no memory of how he actually got Roddy's broken blaster rifle, believing that it simply appeared one day, and the BMZ2 DLC as is generally isn't compatible with the BMZ2 plot (In it, there is no story dialogue and Copen and Lola fight all the bosses instead of Jason and Eve). Further complicating things, both Jason and Copen have Roddy's rifle.
- However, Jason says that he's encountered all sorts of new phenomena while journeying through super-dimensional space, This hints that he may have learned about parallel worlds this way, even if the DLC is incompatible with the main story in BMZ2.
- Given Mother's use of EX Weapons from The Seven, some also speculate the Ichor Hunter weapon gained at Andreia is in fact derived from Milas' power, as it is named after his septima in both English (Ichor Hunter) and in Japanese (Hunter Liquid). Neither The Creator nor Mother use any water-based abilities in the game. However, it should be noted that Andreia was built with water-based abilities, so this may simply have been an easter egg.
