Prevasion (
English Game Description[]
When Gunvolt isn't using the Flashfield, he will automatically neutralize incoming attacks in exchange for EP. This is known as Prevasion.
Although Prevasion consumes EP, as long as you manually recharge your EP by double-tapping (down on the D-pad) you can effectively become invincible.
Prevasion is a pendant ability, and can be disabled by removing Gunvolt's pendant.
Effect[]
Some pendants when equipped can grant the Prevasion ability.
While the ability is active, any damage incurred will be redirected such that it subtract points from Gunvolt's EP meter rather than his health meter. Thus, constantly recharging EP grants Gunvolt pseudo-invincibility.
Moreover, Gunvolt himself will not stagger or knockback when he takes damage; an electrical emanation of Gunvolt from the Prevasion will absorb the damage for him.
Although Prevasion prevents Gunvolt from sustaining any actual damage, getting hit in some way still reduces Gunvolt's Kudos count to zero.
The effects of Prevasion are disabled as long as Gunvolt is activating his Flashfield or if he removes the Prevasion-granting pendant.
- Note: Prevasion is not a perfect ability. It cannot protect Gunvolt from passive damage effects, such as if he is drowning in the Subaquatic Base. It also cannot negate status affliction attacks, such as Elise's Gorgon Gaze, Carrera's Quasar Collapse, or Copen's approximations of those moves. A number of other attacks can also instantly inflict overheat and potentially damage GV, such as Jota's Phosphoratorium and contact with Gibril during her Iron Maiden SP skill.
Pendants that Grant Prevasion[]
Below is a list of pendants that can grant Prevasion:
- Prevasion Chain (GV1)
- Geist Locket/+
- Solid Medallion/+
- Shield Medallion/+
- Overflash Pendant/+ (GV1)
- Chargeguard Pendant/+
- Barrier Locket/+
- Solid Geist Locket/+
- Muse's Pendant (GV2)
- Awakening Pendant/+ (GV2)
- Sealing Pendant (GV2)
Other Prevasion Users[]
Almost all playable characters have their own version of Prevasion, with Copen in Luminous Avenger iX 2 being the only exception, though his Hyper Guard ability serves a similar function.
- Copen's pseudo-Prevasion function is based on the Azure Striker technique, and each activation will consume one Bullit in GV2 or two Bullits in iX1. It is vulnerable to electric attacks.
- Kirin can use Prevasion by equipping the "The Muse" Lumen Image Pulse. Each activation consumes 4 talismans, and upgrading the Image Pulse can reduce the number of talismans consumed to 3 or 2 each time.
- ZedΩ has his own Prevasion-equivalent ability called Vibratio, which consumes all remaining feathers and causes ZedΩ to lose his wings each time it is activated.
Story Settings[]
The discovery of Prevasion and creation of the pendants was an event significant enough to include on a series timeline in the Armed Blue Gunvolt: Sou Soundtrack. The nature of the pendant Asimov gave him is a mystery to GV.[1] According to the print version of Cutout: Copen, Prevasion changes the user's flesh to electrons to let attacks harmlessly pass through.
Allegedly, the inner workings of Prevasion and the pendants are a secret. The reason Blade and Demerzel do not have Prevasion is because they don't have pendants, although Demerzel's container switching movement is named Prevasion Shift (カゲロウシフト).[2][Note 1]
Trivia[]
- Some users of Prevasion and related abilities shed ethereal feather-like particles when using it, namely GV, Asimov, Copen, and ZedΩ. However, Kirin and Nova do not.
