Materials are items in Azure Striker Gunvolt and Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 acquired after clearing missions or completing challenges to synth different types of gear.
When you complete a stage, you're given the chance to select some items from a bonus game. How many boxes the player can open depends on their overall stage rank, in addition to how many medals they collect. Each medal is worth one additional try, and there can be up to 5-6 medals in a single stage.

Every material is also part of a ranking system based on how common a certain item is. All of the common, one-star common, and two-star common materials can be obtained from any stage. Three-star rare and very rare materials are exclusive to certain stages.
