Gameplay proceeds on two slides, with notes travelling down each one. There are four note types: Tap Notes (Green), Hold Notes (Blue), Flick Notes (Pink), and Slide Notes (Yellow). Easy does not have Slide Notes. Additional modifiers can adjust note speed and duration of Hold Notes. The Switch version has the option to play using touchscreen controls. Development[]
The decision to create Cychronicle was made at some point during development of Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2, and this led to Inti Creates CEO Takuya Aizu having the music videos for iX 2 made. Aizu selected Naoya Kiji to direct Cychronicle due to Kiji being a big fan of rhythm games who even plays them during his lunch breaks.[3] The game was developed using the Unity engine.
Footage of the game was first teased at the Morpho Super Live: Luxair Rising concert in Japan on January 8th, 2023. A short public demo with the Ergo Sum music video was made available at the Justdan Game Festival in Taiwan on March 18th. On that same day the website GNN News posted an article about their exclusive interview with Aizu about the project, which was only referred to as "Unpublished Mysterious Work" (「未公開神秘作品」), and uploaded a gameplay video. As of March 18th, the demo was all that had been made so far, the game was considered only 3% complete, and no release date or platforms had been decided on yet.[4] The game was officially announced on September 13th, 2023, and released on February 15th, 2024.
While Cychronicle was initially rated by the ESRB as E for Everyone, approximately a week after release the rating was changed and the game was temporarily removed from the Nintendo Switch eshop.[5] It was restored with a T for Teen rating by March 4th.

Trivia[]
- The motorcycle in the WonderGOO bonus illustration strongly resembles the Yamaha Morpho concept motorcycle, referencing the basis of Lumen's Japanese name (Morpho).
- This is the first game in the franchise which is not a platformer.
