"Melting in the twilight (magic hour),
the wish of a mechanical girl."

Tagline

Armed Blue Gunvolt Sou: Clockwork Daydream (蒼き雷霆ガンヴォルト爪 機械仕掛けの儚夢) is the first of the two fan discs released for Azure Striker Gunvolt 2.

It features a voice drama of the same name with a (non)-daily life story about Copen, Mytyl, Lola and Nori that takes place in between Copen's battle with Eden. The CD also includes the full release of the Joule/Lumen version of the DLC song Stratosphere, and the karaoke versions of Igniter and other Gunvolt 2 songs. The booklet it comes with also features an interview with Keishi Yonao, the arranger of Lola's songs.

Although the CD has not been officially released outside of Japan, the voice drama has received fan translated English subtitles and been uploaded to YouTube.

Creative Notes

Hello. Been a while since I’ve written the plot of a drama CD.

While I’ve been actively supervising things for a while, I’d entrusted Mr. Oka with writing up the plot of “Lazy Kingdom” and the (Nintendo) 3DS (Gunvolt Striker Pack) Limited Edition Drama CD, hence why it feels that it’s been a while since I last took up this job.

Although I will write the plot for the (Nintendo) Switch (Gunvolt Striker Pack) Drama CD as well.

Let’s get down to business. While the “Gunvolt” series looks like we’re doing as we see fit (can’t deny that parts of it are actually made like that) there are parts that follow rules that the staff has laid out.

For example: “since it’s a title for (elite) elementary school boys, we won’t depict excessive romantic relationships”... That’s one of those rules, yet I personally like love comedies or “boy meets girl” stories, so unless I’m not careful I end up stuffing plenty of those (sweats).

Especially since the 1st game was written around the same time as in “Gal*Gun: Double Peace”, which is a romantic(?) game, and rumors say that there must’ve been some confusion within myself.

So taking lessons from what I overdid in the 1st game, I meant to write less of it in the 2nd game, yet… When you properly inspect it, you find that one of the bosses is in love with GV, and that the director stopped me from increasing the interactions between GV and Ouka… I didn’t learn anything, indeed!

As for the boss that loves GV, the junior planner that wrote up the (in-game) specifications, they told me “this boss is a super masochist!” and that’s why you end up with such a crazed character.

Sorry for the long prelude, but as you can see, I’m fated to never learn from my own mistakes.

As for this drama CD, we expected it to be for an older demographic so I proudly added some extent of love comedy to it.

Whether the emotion that RoRo is feeling is “love”, I’d assume that it’s not (pure) “love” per se, but a bit of (love).

Maybe it’s part of the “love” within the Mirror Pieces? Or maybe the residual thoughts of Cyan lodging in the same are affecting her.

Trivia

  • The sirens in the background of Track 3 indicate that it was Ghauri whom Copen retrieved the fifth Mirror Shard from.
    • As part of Eden's fairy tale motif, Ghauri references Cinderella. Much like Cinderella, Clockwork Daydream involves a magical woman granting a girl a transformation that lasts until a specific time of day.
  • This was the second and last installment in the Gunvolt series to feature Yurika Endo as Lola's voice actress. She retired from the entertainment business just two months after the release of Clockwork Daydream.
